How can I write a DCP drive on OS X?
Mac-formatted drives are very unlikely to work when plugged into cinema servers, so you should probably not use them to transfer DCPs. Better options are:
- Write to ext2 format (Linux) using Fuse for OS X and Fuse-Ext2.
- Write to NTFS (Windows) using Paragon NTFS or Tuxera NTFS. This is not 100% guaranteed to work, but most servers accept NTFS drives.
- Create a virtual machine with Virtualbox and install a Linux distribution like Ubuntu on it, then use that to copy your DCP onto a ext2-format drive.
- Boot a Linux distribution (e.g. Ubuntu) in ‘live’ mode and do your copying from there.
