Summary0000503: Partial DCP-encoding
Description

I don't know if this is possible, will have to dig into the DCI-docs, but it would be nice if it were possible to encode part of a movie file to create a standalone DCP, like by setting an in- and out-marker. If DCP-o-matic would store the meta-data: original file-names, date-stamps & lengths, a+v format specs plus in- & out-points.

It might even be possible to implement a DCP-merge functionality.

Why that? :-) Most common scenario might be a typo detected in the trailer. Currently one likely has to re-encode the entire feature. If it were possible to encode only the trailer and merge the two files, beginning from a defined timecode location it would save a tremendous amount of time.

This is probably easier to do than replacing a segment in the middle of the original DCP, as frame numbering has to be adjusted (and a million other things too I am sure), but even then it might be possible to say insert a partial DCP into the master file.
