Re: 10 bits file as master

I don't know if the matter is resolved, but you could import the MXF video file from the DCP to those programs and check if that banding is apparent.
I am not 100% sure that will show you what is to be seen on screen, but it will be a mean to compare...

Re: audio sync problem with 23,976 and other fps

...DOM does not detect the correct framerate (24,91 as MediaInfo said)... Something is not correct with that frame rate at the first place. It seems more like a frame rate taken out of a phone camera than a production ProRes and suggests variable frame rate. You will probably need some other tool f...

Re: Still DCP's have no assetmap

My guess would be either checksum issues (on the computer running DCP-o-matic) or copy issues (if it copies to the TMS automatically). The latter seems to me more probable, just because the original poster says that the TMS does not 'see' the packages and doesn't know where the project folder with t...

Re: DoM crashing when trying to create DCP from unencrypted VF+OV

It seems that the issue is similar with encrypted DCP as sources. They are well played back with the player when adding the KDM to it. But the in a DoM project, the right-click "Add KDM..." feature crashes the same way as with "Add OV...". There seems to be a pattern that may he...

Re: 2x xeon 5670 seems slow

With a Z840, checking with Sintel, I first got 28fps. Then, I combined it with a Z600 and got up to 37fps. I sent the logs to Carl some time ago. Today, I enabled HyperThreading and used 55 out of 56 (threads again) to get from 28 to 31 fps. I am not trying to say that the difference between using H...

Re: Colour space

It's my free choice to still call it stupid, and I don't care whether... You are right! It's your prerogative to call it what you want. You don't have to argue on the matter and you can disregard my comment. Yet, since the discussion is public, it's beneficiary for the rest of the readers to know t...

Re: 2x xeon 5670 seems slow

I once read that HyperThreading is not a great benefit, and not x2 in any way, to the computing power of CPUs.
Does experience suggest otherwise?

Re: Colour space

... I have shown quite a few 2:1 features in recent years, but they were all in F-200. With the exception of the current 'Der Rausch'/'Another Round' - which is, stupidly, formatted in S-200. That was not the mastering facility's call but the director's. While that wouldn't be my choice, I see some...

Re: Help wanted with testing on M1 (Apple Silicon) Mac

In the new site layout I can't see values for fps on benchmarks.
Do the alternate columns/stripes suggest a frame per second each, or is it intentional to have a relative but not numeric representation?
...or is it just an overlook?

Re: 4K UHD Blu-ray to DCP for playback on 2K commercial projector?

Depending on your BD-drive, you might be able to get away with UHD reading with just a firmware upgrade.
It depends on whether it is what is called "UHD Blu-Ray 'friendly'".
A few of them do not play directly from the disc though, only rip.
