Re: Sony server cert.

Hi,
For now I have made the Sony certs available at
FTP: certs.d-cine.net
username: sony_certs
pw: sony_certs

Like other certs access sites, this makes sony certs available via a similar path.

Ping me if you have issues. I plan to leave them there.

Ststus of DOM Player

Hi,
Just wondering what the status of the development of the DOM player is? I don't see any comments in the release notes for some time indicating the player has had any attention.

What's the current roadmap and wishlist for it?
Thanks...

Re: Sony server cert.

As Sony has left the digital cinema industry. I don't expect to find an open FTP server. However, if anyone has Sony Root and intermediate certificates. I would appreciate them. So if someone submits a cert, it can be verified. Pretty much every other vendor now has open access to certificate downlo...

Re: Should SMTPE really be advised to be used over Interop?

SMPTE is now the standard. The industry cannot lock itself out of advancing and fixing issues just because a few small independents don't want to keep their equipment up to date. If this occurs, you should really encourage the cinema to keep up with the industry standards. Why your SMPTE DCP did not...

Re: dcp-o-matic used for free KDM service. Comments please.

Yes, Guddu, if implementing a full KDM service in combination with the upkeep of a TDL, (Trusted Device list.) You would keep track of all this in a Database, and if a KDM was allocated to a specific screen, and that screen was updated to point to a new player certificate, it would automatically rese...

Re: dcp-o-matic used for free KDM service. Comments please.

Yes Carl, you basically have the idea. I could build up on a local cached version of the player certs as it goes along. But maintaining a TDL involves effort. This effort will be left up to the cinema and producer to follow up on any errors in that a supplied KDM is a mismatch as the cinema has supp...

dcp-o-matic used for free KDM service. Comments please.

Hi, I have always hated it when I see a non-encrypted DCP come through the cinemas I own. Here in Australia, its pretty safe but in many other parts of the world it's just straight-out crazy to pass a MASTER copy of a film to random people. I have spoken to a few small film-makers over the years who...

Re: KDM Validity VS Signing Cert Validity error

No, In Australia it's consumer law, not domestic consumer law. Does not matter if you are a business. And it shouldn't. You purchase a car, you expect it to run until it breaks (est. 10 years). You don't have to take it to get services every few years or the certificate used to start the engine expi...

Re: KDM Validity VS Signing Cert Validity error

Short certificates for players is quite a big issue. Its technically illegal as it forces cinema owners to pay for upgrades they may not want to do. I know they should keep their players up to date but that's not the point. You shouldn't have to pay for an updated player cert every 3-5 years on a un...

Re: KDM Validity VS Signing Cert Validity error

This is a good question. If a dci-player cert is to expire in 2 years and you try and make a KDM that extends passed this timeframe. Should this be possible? Should it error? Should it just say fine, and not really matter. The player will need a new cert installed at some stage meaning a new KDM for...
