Re: Creating a DCP from a BluRay

Since it's SDR, it will be limited range at 16-235 with Rec.709 color space. The JPEG2000 codec is not directly related to the SDR specs.

Re: Creating a DCP from a BluRay

I'm my experience, the limiting factor with Blu-rays is the source. Rip the blu-ray with MakeMKV, bring the resulting file in DCP-o-matic, and go on from there.

Re: Home Server setup

Sorry Carl, I sent you on wild goose chase: I confused the post you found with my emails with Aaron about Grok. The testing apparatus was suboptimal (big computer with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070, but with a slow laptop HD), but I was able to get 65 fps on Sintel on a that single computer using Grok. ...

Re: Home Server setup

I briefly tested back in November. The "painful" part was getting the DCP maker to talk to the Grok authorizing server (the server that verifies that you're authorized to use the software): that handshaking would not go through our firewall. So I used our network for the actual DCP making,...

If you install a compatible GPU and the right version of Ubuntu, this server would make a formidable DCP maker! viewtopic.php?t=2278

Re: How to package DTS in the DOM?

Do you mean in terms speakers positions or codec ingest?

I would probably allow DOM to decompress the codec to PCM. And if it was DTS-ES 6.1, I would probably convert it to 7.1 by sending the Cs to Lrs and Rrs with a 4.5 dB gain reduction.

Re: Can`t get DCPs to work with IMS1000

Are you able to ingest in the server? If not, what error messages are you seeing?

If ingested, what error messages are you seeing when trying to project?

You could also consider making the 2K DCP from the original source file.

Re: Understanding the inner workings of the Mid-side decoder...

I'll just add my two cents here: DOM should probably have a few options for mid-side processing* based on the ones available here: http://elias.altervista.org/html/3_speaker_matrix.html * I think the "Mid-side decoder" in DOM should be renamed "Mid-side processor" or "Stereo...

And I get 99 fps on the Sintel benchmark with the following setup:
  • Host: Mac Studio Ultra 20-core with 2Gbit ethernet
    Nodes 1 - 6: Mac Pro 2013 12-core 2.7GHz, 2Gbit ethernet
