Re: 16fps silent films on 24fps DCP

Wouldn't that cause extreme stuttering at these low frame rates?

1-22-3-44-5-66-7-88...?

Re: 16fps silent films on 24fps DCP

Have you ever seen a 16fps movie with every second frame doubled? I don't think this is a good idea. 30fps with a slight slow-down is the best you can get. Note, there are archiving frame rates allowed, among them 16, ≈18, 20, and ≈22fps, but that doesn't mean equipment is able to reproduce them. - ...

Re: What is right way to make multilingual DCP

You can deselect the individual tracks of the OV DCP audio to disable them. Then add the new soundfile. I understand that, for the process of supplying a new audiotrack, this seems unnecessarily complicated - however, the OV/VF workflow is universal to enable adding video, audio, or subtitles. So, i...

Haha, maybe I can attack you with some suggestions that Carl, ehm,... so far wasn't too keen to pick up... ;-)
(Probably because they were too simple for him to even consider them)

Re: Outputting MOV/MP4

Which version of DCP-o-matic did you use? What was the source file? Do you still have the metadata file from this project?

Re: What is right way to make multilingual DCP

You need to create two 'separate' DCPs - one with video + audio1, one with video + audio2. You should not import both language audio tracks at the same time. There are two ways to accomplish this - two OV DCPs, or one OV + a VF (version file). The latter saves the storage space for the video file by...

Re: Audio level

A cinema audio processor like the AP20 is usually tied to the cinema's DCP player through a control interface that allows the server to control the processor through so called format and level cues. When you create a playlist on the server that is meant to play your three titles in a sequence, you c...

Re: How to add an alternative audio to encrypted DCP?

You can not add subtitles to an encrypted DCP if you do not get a DKDM for it. The method you linked to (adding a VF) can be applied with DCP-o-matic as well - but only for unencrypted content, or if you receive a DKDM for encrypted content. What they describe for encrypted content is a hack that de...

Re: Confusing sound error

@ - can you translate the russian warning into english, keeping it's original meaning and sentiment? Maybe it has been translated with too much intention. As with the other hint dealing with the 24/25 fps issue - it is a hint to keep an eye on your levels, not an error. From what I see in your audio...

Re: Picture start & picture end markers

We had 'physical' and 'virtual' trimming in some versions of dvd-o-matic, I have a faint remembering of some discussions about it and how and why to keep it or not. I think for a time there was a checkbox or something to use either method. So, at least GUI wise, it would be possible to modify the tr...
