Re: Organizing elements/Reels in Content List

Up/Down only will not necessarily create the proper layout - open timeline view and drag items where you want them, this is also the best way to check your arrangement.

Re: Upgrading to new version

Just install the new version, it will do a proper update and keep prefs. Only very rarely have we seen issues that needed a manual deinstallation first. If you do encrypted DCPs and KDMs, it is a good idea to backup your prefs and/or certs regularly. A version update is a good time to think about th...

Re: Editing DCP Name / Type

If you still have the project folder with the DCP intact (incl. video folder, etc.), just change the content type and recreate - DCP-o-matic will just relink the media files and recreate the metadata files within no time. If all you have is the DCP itself, the safest way is to create a new DCP from ...

Re: need help

Never heard about that. I know india used (non-DCP) E-Cinema systems on a broad scale for a very long time (and maybe still to a small extent). But ACP??? I can't believe something else than DCI/DCP is used in egypt for e.g. foreign blockbuster movies? I know they have IMAX screens in egypt as well....

Re: Davinci DNXhr444 export settings for DCPOM?

There is an open feature suggestion for better/explicit video/data level support in DCP-o-matic (in the form of a custom color conversion parameter). The trouble is, you may have either video or data levels in video content (not just DNx) without this being flagged anywhere. So far, we can only assu...

Re: Davinci DNXhr444 export settings for DCPOM?

I suggest to use video levels, but you should be able to verify this with DOMs waveform monitor. It is easy to recognize a black level mismatch there. As a matter of fact, video vs. data level issues was the reason I suggested the video waveform monitor feature to Carl a long time ago. What is your ...

Re: Error: could not start Jpeg 2000 encoding (44)

Very often, this error is related to memory issues - and most typically, the reason is running DCP-o-matic in a 32Bit environment, or, the 32Bit version in a 64Bit environment (which is possible, but for this very reason, not recommended). Make sure you have downloaded the 64Bit version and run it e...

Re: What do you do if you have one scene with a different Aspect Ratio?

I assume you want to show the movie in scope aspect ratio? Then you need to pillarbox the 16:9 scene within the scope frame. -> Choose Scope container under DCP In a default installation, DCP-o-matic will do everything correctly by itself: -> Scope content will be scaled to scope aspect ratio -> 16:...

Re: SMPTE bitmapped subs on GDC SX 2000

I guess most will not be able to find out easily if the DCPs they play are timed text or PNG. I think I never saw a PNG test DCP. I know there are issues with DCP and PNG resolution (2k vs. 4k) between Interop and SMPTE. I also know that it is/was common in switzerland to have dual-language subtitle...

Re: different colors in subtitles

Don't know about supported color tags in SRT, but it is perfectly okay to have one SRT file per language (100% overlap) in a project and set the color and other aspects per file (incl. vertical spacing, of course  ). If you have access to the split files, that should be an easy solution. When ...
