Re: Open Subtitle questions

Yup. If there is a deadline, just add the SRT to the project, and let DCP-o-matic ignore the CEA608 captions. Create a textless OV, then create a VF that reuses video and audio and only adds the SRT file.

Re: White flashes on screening

That's a useful explanation. I guess it's difficult for DCP-o-matic to immediately track errors like this that happen during encoding. I have actually seen a flash frame in a DCP that was commercially mastered by one of the big boys. But the inspection features of the player should at least identify...

Re: DCP projector plays only center audio channel in a theater

DCPs do not carry multi-track vs. multi-stream properties. The DCP MXF audio format only carries multiple-tracks in one stream per file properties. Multiple streams as in MP4/MKV, etc. consumer formats for different language audio are enabled for DCPs in the form of version files. It's not the DCP t...

Re: DCP-o-matic doesn't appear to recognize 5.1 mapping from MOV

LUFS around -20 or LEQ(m) around 80dB should be the right values to aim for.

Re: How to package DTS in the DOM?

DCPs only support PCM audio. DCP-o-matic, through FFMPEG, will support very many different audio codecs in input files and convert them to PCM suitable for DCP. It will not, however, solve all possible channel assignments properly. Usually, AC-3 in 5.1 and dts/DTS-HD in 5.1 and 7.1 will have channel...

Re: DCP_o-matic player 2 previewing poor image quality

The artifacts in shadow areas are usually from the MP4/h.264. Mp4/h.264 is a playback-only codec, and it's perceptive compression creates more artefacts in invisible shadow areas (which would otherwise contain much noise and reduce compression efficiency).

I think you can relax.

Re: DCP_o-matic player 2 previewing poor image quality

Hmm. I see some differences between these images, but nothing that would make me nervous (the blacks are obvious in Resolve). But - all software players on computer screens are not doing the same what a DCI projector does. Given the completely different color management of these samples, and of cour...

Re: Fails to decrypt DCP using DKDM

In DCP-o-matic A, you need to export the decryption/leaf certificate. Bildschirmfoto 2024-06-04 um 11.52.58.png In DCP-o-matic B, you need to create a Screen 'DCP-o-matic A', and assign that decryption/leaf certificate from DCP-o-matic A to it. Then you can create KDMs on DCP-o-matic B towards DCP-o...

Re: DCP projector plays only center audio channel in a theater

That looks correct. Are you sure you are only hearing the center in the theater? If the center is dominant, it is sometimes difficult to recognize the other speakers. I see that in the middle of the waveform, there is a section where there is nothing in center, but in L and R. That should be easy to...

Re: DCP projector plays only center audio channel in a theater

What do you mean with 'the waveform looks normal'? I suggest you load the MXF of the DCP you took to the cinema into Audacity (install Audacity + the FFMPEG plugin). Then upload a screenshot of the Audacity window here so we can have a look. It is not impossible that something is broken in the cinem...
