Why does Player report an "invalid frame rate" error for 30fps?

I just successfully encoded a DCP from a ProRes file with a frame rate of 29.97. I ran it through the Player's verification process, and it returned the following error under the SMPTE Bv2.1 tab: The video asset ***.mxf uses the invalid frame rate 30/1. Isn't that bit misleading? I know 30fps used t...

Re: Question about using Disk Writer on a Mac

Hi Carl, thanks for the quick reply. Yes, Paragon extFS is the program. So far I've had two projectionists/tech people successfully test and validate the DCP download from Cinesend after following instructions for creating the subtitle folders, but it introduces the possibility of problems and that ...

Question about using Disk Writer on a Mac

I'm running DOM 2.16.41 on an iMac running OS 10.14.6 I also have extFS for Mac installed on the same machine. Background : I've been delivering an INTEROP DCP with mutiple reels to various theaters and festivals via Cinesend, and many are having trouble as Cinesend requires the downloader to re-cre...

Re: Convert existing INTEROP DCP to SMPTE?

Ticking "use as" in the subtitle tab, then making a new SMPTE DCP works for me (I get a SMPTE DCP with SMPTE subs). Is that what you are doing? Do you see no subtitle files in the resulting DCP? I believe that was my worlflow, yes. When I have some time this week, I'll give it another go....

Re: Convert existing INTEROP DCP to SMPTE?

So, is the best approach to just manually add the XML files from the INTEROP version? Is that correct?

If so, will DOM automatically assign them to the correct reels?

Re: Convert existing INTEROP DCP to SMPTE?

You should probably just import the Interop subtitles separately, as if you would create a subtitled version. DCP-o-matic would read AND convert them into SMPTE/MXF subtitles, instead of failing to integrate them into a SMPTE project. One could call this a bug or mistake, or not. The INTEROP DCP is...

Re: Convert existing INTEROP DCP to SMPTE?

That's bad news... is it feasible for me to get hold of the original Interop DCP? I think so, I can send you a Cinesend download link if that works for you? Just to note, the INTEROP DCP was provided by a third party, and I'm just trying to convert it to SMPTE. Did you choose "open subtitles&q...

Re: Convert existing INTEROP DCP to SMPTE?

That Right-click tip was a good one, thanks. I'm running into one problem, and it involves the subtitles. I was able to successfully re-wrap to SMPTE, but the subtitles from the INTEROP version aren't on board. Before using the right-click tip, I was getting a message in the Subtitles tab that was s...
