Export Options: destination, naming and batch encoding

Hey there everybody! I'm happy to use DOM again for a festival and as COVID makes us working for cinema and online distribution for at least one edition, I would love to come up with my feature requests (again): - Export of DCPs as mov/mp4s via batch encoder to optimze the pipeline. - Export all non...

Re: External Hard Drive to Ingest?

Hi jakesinn, external hard drives usually will be fine. Not sure about the USB port of your IMB, but you'll usually find USB 2.0 to plug-in your drive. USB 3.0 might be in new server versions (don't know) but USB-C I'd be really careful. With or without external power supply doesn't matter at all. O...

Re: Editing DCP Name / Type

Hi Steve, I'm not sure if there's any better way than repack the DCP as a FTR: no coding, just wrapping the assets to the container and creating a new hash. This should be fast enough and a safe way, too. If it's just for one screening, you can also print out the cover sheet and/or leave a message t...

Re: Help with current MacBook Pro

Not sure if that's still a relevant topic but I updated my monitor (5k) and keeping the other parameters of my previous tests (e.g. same DCP, same Player version (2.15.0) and having the playback resolution on full), I have plenty of dropped frames.

Re: DCP compliant delivery drive

While you asked for urgent help for the ext2 file system, I can really recoomend to read Knut Erik Everson's articel:
http://www.knuterikevensen.com/?p=437
The important part is to find below the headline: "The physical medium specification for DCPs".

Good luck!

Re: Help with current MacBook Pro

Great news: Having installed version 2.15.0, I had 0 dropped frames at full resolution and the requested timing says: Timing_DoM-Player.JPG In full screen mode, I had 11 dropped frames. But I'm not sure if this is a result from changing from standard to full screen and back to normal mode. Here's th...

Re: Help with current MacBook Pro

I installed the latest test version (2.13) and I'm quite fine with the results so far: Playing back the same short (as above) twice at full resolutuon, I had 9 dropped frames and later 4 dropped frames in total. So that's a quite okay result for preview. All CPU cores are active, not really balanced...

Re: Help with current MacBook Pro

The same DCP loaded in the main app and it seems to behave like half resolution in the player. Not sure if I never had a closer look on that but I am not sure if it's possible to change the resolution of the preview window in DoM-Main. Maybe it's the size of the player window? I have no clue about t...

Re: Help with current MacBook Pro

I just moved to a somehow powerful Win10 workstation and found the player stottering, too. CPU: i9-9940X RAM: 128 GB Geforce RTX 2070 SSD: Samsung 970 Pro (from which the DCP is loaded). System is on another SSD. Display: DELL 27'' with 2560x1440 pix native resolution. DoM-Version: 2.12.20 Having a ...

Re: DCP in 16 fps

Hi C., First of all, you should not create a DCP with 16 FPS as this is not a specified by the DCI - unless you're doing it for research and in a very controlled surrounding like working on your own cinema server. Use any video editor and export a proper frame rate version. At this step you're able ...
