Re: Writing DCP drives

I think that one of the best resources is Knut Erik Evensen's page "The best common practice to deliver a Digital Cinema Package (DCP)":

Navigating the Name field

There's a strange problem with 2.13.22 (Windows 10, 64 bit). It's possibly the same in other recent versions as well:

It's not possible to move the cursor with the left and right arrow keys in the Name field under the DCP tab.

Re: Miscoloured subtitles again

I'm not sure what changed but I'm just preparing a version which explicitly turns off sub-pixel AA (i.e ClearType) ... hopefully ... Tested with version 2.13.22. (Bug fix: "Try to disable sub-pixel anti-aliasing (aka &lsquot;ClearType&rsquot;) when rendering subtitles.") Sorry, bu...

Re: Miscoloured subtitles again

Just to make matters more complicated: The results with DOM 2.12.4 and ClearType disabled does not look the same as 2.9.21. The newer version produces slightly darker grey pixels for bridging the border between the white core and the black outline, which gives the characters a slightly more jagged l...

Re: Miscoloured subtitles again

Yes, disabling ClearType seems to solve the problem. It's also possible to disable smoothing of screen font edges completely, but that gives a very hard appearance to the subtitles. I think getting rid of ClearType is sufficient for a pleasing result. Question is - can Carl make it so that DOM ignor...

Re: Miscoloured subtitles again

These screenshots should illustrate the problem more clearly. They were taken from the final DCPs with the VLC snapshot funtion, and blown up to 4 times their original size for clarity. You can't say that you don't see it now, can you? Bad: (With DOM version 2.12.4) Note the colouring inside the lett...

Re: Miscoloured subtitles again

I first noticed the problems when testing a DCP on a cinema screen. I could tell that there was something wrong with the subtitles, but I wasn't sure what it was. The subtitles just looked "dirty" compared to another DCP which I had made a year and a half ago. Also, the strange shadows on ...

Re: Miscoloured subtitles again

Try setting X Scale and Y Scale to 66% and Outline width to 4. I'm sure you'll see the problem if you make a screen shot and zoom in on the subtitle. This is a quick test with a still image and just a single subtitle: http://hem.bredband.net/olsand/images/test_sub_66.jpg Decoding is at full resoluti...

Miscoloured subtitles again

I haven't had any reason for making a DCP in more than a year, but I suddenly got a job that requires me to create a DCP with burnt-in subtitles from an existing DCP. However, I found that the latest versions of DCP-o-matic have a new problem with miscoloured subtitles. You don't even have to create...

Re: H.264 Export

Hmm, strange, I don't get this partial desaturation, neither in OS X nor in the WIN version. Are you sure your MP4 player isn't causing this problem? What happens if you reload the exported MP4 into DOM again - does the preview show the same problem? - Carsten I don't see it as a saturation problem...
