Re: Gamma Correction

Hmm, hard do decide. Carl put a lot of work and changes into the color correction, we discussed this often and, most of the time, came to the conclusion that the best way would always be to have and set color correction based on defined standards like rec.709, P3, etc, not individual dialing. That s...

Re: SMPTE PACKAGES

No, both INTEROP and SMPTE need assetmap files. The most obvious difference is that SMPTE assetmap files carry the .xml file extension, while INTEROP assetmap files do not. Same for the VOLINDEX files. Aside from the DCNC/ISDCF naming aspects, if you see a DCP with ASSETMAP and VOLINDEX files, it is...

Re: SMPTE PACKAGES

It is still an unresolved issue why encrypted DCP-o-matic SMPTE packages do not play on Sony systems. Unencrypted SMPTE/Interop and encrypted Interop created with DCP-o-matic do work. Sony recently issued an update of their software, and there is a mentioning of an issue in the release notes. This s...

Re: artefacts in plain colour

Gerhard - I think you are safe. I screened all my tests this afternoon in our cinema on our Sony. The yellow blotching becomes visible below 100MBit/s (I tested down to 40MBit/s). I also checked various levels of softening. There should be a sweet spot above 200MBit/s and with a minimum of filtering...

Re: artefacts in plain colour

Hmm. Interesting thing, that's the reason I spend time on forums, you often learn something new. Now, I have not yet screened my tests at our cinema to find out how much of these artifacts can actually be noticed visually. But I did some tests in order to find out why the blotching appears in...

Re: artefacts in plain colour

I just started some tests with this, and so far can confirm that your source footage is as clean as it can be - all full white, full red, full black, except for the antialiased edges. I can also confirm I see quite some compression artifacts, ringing, etc. when I open your screen-shots from EasyDCP ...

Re: DCP-O-Matic 2.7.0 won't open after installing on OSX

I can only say 2.70 and 2.71 opens without issues on 10.6.8, but that is of course very different from your OS version...

Re: Unwrapping MXF back to J2C sequence

I can only assume that something you are doing tells DOM to recompress the MXF again.

Re: artefacts in plain colour

I just pulled it, maybe Carl will have a go, too. You can take out the drop-box link from the above message and send it to Carl via email as well. I used to do some things with the QT animation codec, and, if I remember right, it is not as clean as you would think. But let's see... BTW - nice flic, ...

Re: dcpomatic crashes by selecting own colour correction

Alright. Maybe make 2.71 the new 'main' release?
