Re: DCP AUDIO LEVEL

That's okay. From the graph I see you setup a 5.1 channel layout and have only L/R/C populated. That is the right way to do it.

You could do +3/+6dB versions (should go very quick) - depends a bit on the screening situation, it is of course also possible to adjust the volume in the cinema.

Re: Creating a DCP-o-matic Workstation

There is a range of benchmarks here: https://dcpomatic.com/benchmarks/input.php?id=1 They are a bit optimistic against real life footage in flat (the Sintel is CGI in scope=fewer pixels), and, times goe up considerably in 4k. In general - clock speed or other high performance features will be less i...

Re: DCP AUDIO LEVEL

This seems to be something like a 15min short film? I'd say you're in the right ball park. From my personal experience with LUFS and Dialnorm levels, it may be a bit soft, you could probably raise overall gain by 3 to 6 dB. But that depends a bit on the type of material, I can only guess. Should it ...

Re: DKDM for another possible KDM generators

Yes, the KDM/DKDM scheme in DCP-o-matic is fully compatible with the DCI universe. In order to issue a DKDM for a different authoring system, they need to send you a certificate first. You can add this to your screen database, and then create DKDMs towards it.

Re: No DCP subfolder

CP650/DMA8 is Dolby - no way ever will they support a competitors format, not even in their very latest processors.

Re: No DCP subfolder

The PI will usually output audio through HDMI when e.g. used with common media players. However, depending on the cinema projector and sound system, they may not be able to extract audio from the HDMI. You may indeed need an HDMI extractor between PI an projector to accomplish that. Then it depends ...

Re: No DCP subfolder

Typically, every projector preset has to be associated with an input (DCP, or HDMI), and a picture setting. If they have a scope screen, they are probably set up to switch between flat and scope for DCP, but maybe not for HDMI. Or, they are setup for different formats over HDMI, but they don't know ...

Re: No DCP subfolder

If there is no DCP folder created, this will usually only occur because the conversion crashed midway, or is not yet finished ;-) While of course I am an endorser of DCP-o-matic, I think a plain vanilla HDMI connection from a PC or media player should be easier for what you describe. Maybe the proje...

Re: dci white point

The only thing I ever read about this was that 'DCI allows arbitrary whitepoints to accomodate any need'. However, what I know from theatrical, this seems to be a grading only decision, as theatre equipment is calibrated to only one white point and stays there forever, and there is nothing in a DCP ...

Re: click at reel change in multi reel dcp

Yes, that's usually the problem. There are no tools in common video editing software to precisely chop audio and video with sample precision. Many people still seem to think that reel segmentation is a prerequisite to DCP creation. However, it is not necessary, and even if the DCP should be multi-re...
