Re: BluRay UHD HDR Conversion to DCP

What you are after is a HDR->12Bit XYZ mapping. I haven't put much thought in it yet, but from what I know about target peak brightness ('nits'), different encoding curves and standards (Dolby Vision, HDR10/+, HLG), this is not easy to get through. As a matter of fact, there is a good deal of creati...

Re: The certificate chain

As far as I know, you can put in it whatever you want when (re)creating the certificate. It is certainly advisable to put real/traceable information into it, so, not just a hypothetical <mypersonal.homepage.com>. It has no real technical implications. Chains are meant to trace back certification cre...

Re: 3D problems

Have you tried 2.13.16? There were some fixes about 3D, and I see another (maybe) 3D related issue on the bugtracker still open.

Re: DCP for Cannes Film Festival

While I brought up that idea myself, I can not really advocate a function that helps to deceive the origin of a DCP. It would result in a very bad reputation if DCP-o-matic would fake DCP provenance that way. No, we should advocate that DCP-o-matic IS a professional DCP mastering software and insist...

Re: DCP for Cannes Film Festival

Sigh... bullheaded, but not completely unexpected, I assume. Well, it MAY be they complain about SMPTE, and DCP-o-matic not strictly following the current ISDCF SMPTE dialect as implemented in the current test versions with ALL parameters (most of them unneeded, like Markers or CPL metadata). It may...

Re: DCP for Cannes Film Festival

Hey skiff - is that your trials with DNxHR or DPX from the other thread? As Carl says, this is not a proper technical description of the problem. Someone relaying information, and as Carl assumes, maybe in a foreign language. Ask them to deliver a proper description of the issue they found. - Carsten

Re: How to keep both 2.10 and 2.12 versions

No, the bounding box is not a straight bounding box around just the subtitle, it only becomes visible when shifting up a burn-in subtilte. However, so far, I can't see it in the finished DCP, so it seems to be just a preview interaction between burn-in and timed text rendering. Bildschirmfoto 2018-0...

Re: Subtitles too small in cinema

After my todays tests, I can at least confirm that there is no general problem with subtitle sizes. I created test slides with ARIAL.TTF, both burnt-in and timed text, on the same 'canvas', with identical parameters, and they come out exactly same size and shape on both our Sony and Barco DLP projec...

Re: How to keep both 2.10 and 2.12 versions

I finished my tests (looking at them at our cinema, of course, I immediately had ideas about other things that might be worth testing). However, I haven't seen important issues, other than a bounding box effect with burnt-in titles, but I think that will hardly ever hurt someone, it might be just a ...
