Re: Mid-side decoder removes stereo separation?
I think the only issue with the current/old MidSide decoder is that one of either L/R is inverted against the other in the final result. This may be a residue of the inversion needed to extra the difference signal for the center isolation. The mid separation itself is correct. I think classic matrix...

Re: Pillar Boxing in 16:9 Ratio
We have adjustable horizontal masking, basically, we can adjust to approx 10cm accuracy. So, whenever possible, we have all lens presets set to use the full height of the screen, then adjust the masking to fit the sides.

thanxamillion. As Sony pulls out of the cinema business, I find it very important that these certs are out in the wild.

Re: Pillar Boxing in 16:9 Ratio
That will also move top and bottom outside the visible area, and is the same a cropping to a flat container.

Re: Mid-side decoder removes stereo separation?
I had the idea to try this and fix the created Mid/Side MXF by simply loading it into Audacity, 're-invert' one channel, save, and create a new DCP with the fixed audio, then compare both. It's not overly complicated. A comparison in our cinema should be promising. The way it is now, L/R will suffer...

Re: Pillar Boxing in 16:9 Ratio
Cropping or pillarboxing are your only options for 16:9. Choose a 2k or 4k flat container.

Re: Mid-side decoder removes stereo separation?
It will work better in the cinema, but there is a current flaw in DCP-o-matic that inverts Left vs. Right during the Mid/Side Process. This will give a very thin sound when played about close stereo monitor systems, and especially when you mute the center speaker. I reported this to Carl, don't know...

Re: How to create DPX format?
Why would you want to create DPX with DCP-o-matic ? DCP-o-matic is the endpoint for cinematic distribution, not an intermediate one.
Most video editing/grading applications allow to create DPX files.

Re: Sharpen effect
The filter may have a rather unintuitive name, but - right-click on the content, choose 'Advanced Settings' -> 'Video filters' -> Edit, and use the unsharp mask/gaussian blur filter.

Re: Forensic Marking - KDM
That's a bit of a secret. The watermarks are repeated all over the run length of the DCP. As far as I know, these methods have been licensed from some companies like Thomson or Philips. These companies supply tools that can be used to analyse a video recording of the content. Usually these tools are...
