I'd leave it in, I guess it is good to have for direct DVD conversion (multiple segmented VOB files). That's probably where it came from in the first place. Even if used rarely, I think it's great to have that function in DCP-o-matic, as it follows the 'convert from everything' approach.

Remove Join function
Just saw this: >Remove join function; the code is long and I don't think anybody uses it. I thought the join function would correctly connect fragmented video files, as segmented MTS, VOB, files etc,, when simply using them in sequence without JOIN would yield different results (image/audio breaks)....

Re: 1.78 in Version 2.12.6
Then maybe also add a hint/warning to the hints/warning window whenever non-standard containers are used? Do you think it's safe to re-introduce non-standard containers to the current code (scaling, cropping, export, subtitle positioning, centering, etc)? I guess the hints/warnings thingy could get ...

Re: 4K DCP problems
Good hint. 4k J2k had a code correction on 2.11.23, and it may indeed be that switching between old and new 4k codestreams causes issues on some servers. I know that the Doremis have demonstrated to be picky about 4k anyway. https://dcpomatic.com/mantis/view.php?id=1125 It's not likely to happen oft...

Re: 1.78 in Version 2.12.6
I understand. Are you using Windows or Mac OS X? As I do a lot of testing and create many DCPs for no other purpose than testing, I personally would prefer to have all imaginable options in a DCP creation tool. But I gave up on the idea to have them as standard features in DCP-o-matic. As an open-so...

Re: DOM 5.1 Channel DCP
You can load the resulting audio MXF into an MXF capable audio editor (like Audacity with the ffmpeg plugin) and then see what went into each track.

Re: DOM 5.1 Channel DCP
The Mid/Side decoder is comparably straight and safe, it will create L/C/R signals that will not cause technical issues on 5.1 or 7.1 systems. Still, when using any of these audio processors, it is a good idea to perform a test screening on at least an L/C/R capable listening system. For UpmixerA an...

Re: DCP Naming convention (30 instead of 51 in the name)
The Mid/Side Decoder only creates three channels - L/C/R, so, even in a 5.1 DCP, only three channels are populated. You could do it as a 4 Channel DCP as well, but in general, I would advise to use only straight stereo, or a full 5.1 channel layout. The storage implications of 4 vs. 6 channels can b...

Re: DOM 5.1 Channel DCP
You can try one of the Upmixers in DCP-o-matic under DCP->Audio, however, you should only use UpmixerA or UpmixerB if you have a chance to listen to the created audio in a surround environment/cinema, as with some signals, they may create unpleasant results. There are some commmercial solutions for ...
