Re: Speed of exporting to MP4

Hm, this seems to be DCP specific. I am ripping another three DCPs with CRF around 28 and the sizes will be all under 10 GB. Or can a difference in CRF of 10 make a 90 GB difference in size of the resulting export? A rule of thumb for CRF when converting normal h264 files is to use a value of around...

Re: Speed of exporting to MP4

In any case, a 2K MP4 export of 135min movie with CRF 17 has bitrate over 100 000 (one hundred thousand) kbits and is around 96 GB. That is about ten times more than would be more than enough.

Re: Speed of exporting to MP4

Indeed, setting it to 2K speeds up things (to around 8 FPS). In in the timings tab, I can trim it to export jhust three minutes to inspect the result before committing to exporting the whole film, perfect, so this helps. Carl himself opened a bug to implement this in the export window: https://dcpom...

By the way, is it this one: https://www.fastcompression.com/product ... eg2000.htm ?

Speed of exporting to MP4

What speed can I expect when exporting to an MP4? My computer is reasonably powerful (Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9880H CPU @ 2.30GHz and 32GB of RAM) and can preview the film in real time when played on a FullHD screen. When played on 4K screen, it is laggy, the film is 4K. It encodes to MP4 (I set CRF to...

Re: Can I use DCP-o-matic for encryption only?

So making an encrypted DCP from an unencrypted one took 2,5 hours, which meand the jpegs were not re-encoded, that is far above my CPU's
(Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3720QM CPU @ 2.60GHz) ability.

What is the recommended way to export a file with burnt in subtitles

I have a DCP where there is an OV with not subtitles and a VF with subtitles in it. I want to export it to a mp4 file that is going to contain the subtitles. What is the best way to do this? First, what controls if the subtitles are visible in the preview or not? I am on development version (2.13.64...

Re: Download old development versions of DOM

Thanks. I am refreshing until the Ubuntu build appears there so I can download it and test it:-).

Keeping a few will be great, if somebody uses a test release and there is a regression, it might be occasionaly useful to downgrade when there is time pressure. Thanks again!

Download old development versions of DOM

There is a bug ( https://dcpomatic.com/mantis/view.php?id=1388 ) that crashes DOM when I try to export video. Where can I download a previous developmental deb (I am on Ubuntu 18.04)? This worked in 2.13.57 (and I would rather not compile it myself). I need the CRF option added post 2.12. (or I will...

Re: Can I use DCP-o-matic for encryption only?

I am not sure about that one, but DCP-o-matic is smart enough to decrypt a DCP withot reencoding it (it took it about an hour to make a new unecrypted DCP from an encrypted one). I will not try to encrypt it and will report here.
