Re: 7.1 Audio - which channel pattern?

You need to set the DCP to 12 channels/7.1 first under DCP->Audio. While 7.1 needs only 8channels of audio, they are mapped to a 12ch DCP audio file, there is HI/VI-N on 7 and 8, and Lc and Rc on 9 and 10 inbetween, at least 9 and 10 will mostly be empty, and HI/VI-N is up to you to occupy with some...

Re: Colour space

What version of Resolve do you currently have your project in? Currently, although I wrote 'you made a mistake' above, it looks as if from the three examples the XYZ version looks best from it's media file properties. The only uncertainty is the encoded gamma - if you put this through DCP-o-matic wi...

Re: Recover encrypted DCP given test KDM

It is new to me that VLC supports encrypted DCPs and KDMs, but a quick google search seems to suggest it is indeed possible. Now, expired KDMs are a problem on real DCI systems where the expiration is based on a secure hardware clock that can not be altered. For a software player, there are two poss...

Re: Colour space

Looks as if DCP-o-matic is correct in indicating the P3 file as rec-709, MediaInfo (if you don't have it, get it!) indicates it as DNxHR HQX with 4:2:2 12bit YUV. Basically, this is just a plain YUV in 4:2:2 12 bit. Not the worst format, but probably not what you intended. Also, the color primaries ...

Re: Colour space

Normally, you make a mistake by creating an xyz transformation in Resolve. If you create a master for DCP creation, and if you work in P3 in Resolve, you have to leave out the xyz transformation and create a P3 RGB master (P3 is RGB). The xyz is done in DCP-o-matic, based on the assumption/setting t...

Re: Colour space

Weird. How can DCP colours be correct for an actual P3 master export if it is processed as rec.709 in DCP-o-matic? With 'colors look like before' - do you mean in DCP-o-matic preview, or did you actually watch the resulting DCP in the cinema? Can you upload a short snippet of your P3 master somewher...

Re: 4K UHD Blu-ray to DCP for playback on 2K commercial projector?

okay ;-) The resulting MKV is readable, VLC recognises it as h.265/HVEC 10 Bit 4:2:0, BT.2020. DCP-o-matic the same, as expected, the contrast (visible in preview) is reduced, looks dull, some scenes grainy and streaky. Many blown-out highlights in the rec.709 version have surprisingly low luminance...

Re: 4K UHD Blu-ray to DCP for playback on 2K commercial projector?

Okay, it's a bit complicated, but...bought a drive that has been reported to work nicely, drive has been reflashed with the necessary firmware. Thousands of people in threads about methods, firmware version, and drives, but no guide that has all the necessary information. Or some that simply have to...

Re: 4K UHD Blu-ray to DCP for playback on 2K commercial projector?

The question is wether DCP-o-matic could be able to implement a suitable mapping. This particular title is a classic 35mm title. It is indicated as HDR, but I'm wondering what they actually did to it. I will probably see this weekend. Wondering how far beyond classic rec.709 we can go from UHD to DC...
