Re: Emerging SMPTE standard for D Cinema image masters

I don't know about that (if and how much), but it will nearly half the storage needed.
So, even though I am a person that uses DCDM once in a blue moon and might never use a pDCDM, I like the idea.

Re: Is SMPTE standard DCP going to play in a cinema that request IOP?

With Interop, there is always the framerate element that needs attention. There might be different reasons that a cinema requests IOP. For instance, I came across a Doremi IMS1000 with external storage that won't unpack SMPTE subtitles, if the DCP resides on the external storage and is encrypted. Th...

Re: DCP Player - Only 1/4 of image visible

You write that the computer is an MBP. Is it retina? Could it be that there is some mirroring setting there going wrong? (The laptop screen would be of higher resolution than the projector's native.) Give it an effort to set the "Video display mode" to Simple(safer), rather than OpenGL and...

Re: DCP Player - Only 1/4 of image visible

Without being close to a computer with DCP-o-matic, to check preferences, this smells like a display setting misconfiguration on the computer's part. If there is a "resize" checkbox on the preferences of DCP-o-matic player's full screen, I can't check. I for one -if I was to play out of a ...

Re: Verify DCP

You need to open the DCP with the Player. Not the DCP creator.

Re: Met new problem, Dolby IMS3000 fail to play

Google Translate: Playlist failed to play, unknown reason 0 @niuniu, Log files, validity check, sanity check, would tell more than those snapshots. And what is that icon that is on the right side of each and every failing DCP? Are those DCPs fully and validly ingested? What are those double undersco...

Re: XML subtitles - validation error

It's better to send a problematic file to Carl. Yet, what I would do, is also question the delivery method. Meaning, the way the file(s) were sent or stored to sent. (Or stored before used, but that's less likely, if the problem is with many clients.) Did you go from one delivery service to another,...

Re: Why is 2 frame gap between subtitles recommended?

No bug there. Neither on server nor on Texas Instruments. Frames between sequential subtitles, number or characters per line, subtitles not overlapping scene changes, number of lines, minimum and maximum duration of screening, characters per second etc. etc. are all factors that make the difference ...
