Vertical positioning of subtitles & SMPTE standard versions
Hi guys, while getting used to the recent changes in DCP-o-Matic regarding vertical subtitle positioning, I've realized that there's always been an important difference between SMPTE ST 428-7:2010 and ST 428-7:2014 in this matter. For example, if Valign is set to "top", the 2010 spec defin...

Chroma upsampling
Am I correct that DCP-o-Matic only does a nearest-neighbour chroma upsampling for chroma subsampled sources? Particularly deep reds exhibit some blockiness in the final DCP when such files are imported directly to DoM, and of course, such artifacts are more visible on the big screen. I find that I'm...

Re: 4K UHD Blu-ray to DCP for playback on 2K commercial projector?
Would using 4K UHD Blu-rays rather than standard 1080p Blu-ray as the source for my DCPs result in better quality in the details, grain, etc because of the higher bitrate? I understand there are also things like HDR > SDR conversion which come into play and that may introduce more problems instead ...

Re: Info LUFS for cinema
Is your audio track actually mono – that is, 100% identical audio in the left and right channels? (It sure looks like that in your DoM graph, but it's not accurate enough to say for sure.) If your mix is indeed pure mono, then you should create a proper mono DCP. Simply check one of your (identical)...

Re: Audio sync problem when exporting to file
That was 2.14.47 (Ubuntu 20.04, but I'm pretty sure I've seen the same issue in the Mac version).

Re: Marker support missing.. What happened.
This got me wondering... Most people would probably consider moving credits a part of end credits. Shouldn't LFEC and LFMC be set at the same timecode then? Or does the term "end credits" specifically refer to just the "main" end credits segment that appears before the rolling/mo...

Re: Marker support missing.. What happened.
Anti - I think your markers have been discarded because they are placed behind LFOC? 720 frames are 30s - your markers are set at 30s,35s, 50s and 55s. Yeah, just realized this myself... I can confirm that it's working as expected, as long as the marker timecodes are set within the content's...

Re: Marker support missing.. What happened.
I just tried creating a test clip on 2.15.135 with a couple of markers: https://i.imgur.com/9KFt3j6.png ...but the resulting CPL only has FFOC and LFOC in the MainMarkers element: <MainMarkers> <Id>urn:uuid:32c839a1-ccda-4dd8-a18a-d067786f4b1e</Id> <AnnotationText></AnnotationText> <EditRate>24 1</E...

Re: Audio sync problem when exporting to file
OK, so it was a known issue – thanks! I just run a quick test on 2.15.135, and it seems to be fixed all right. You could try to reimport the created DCP into DCP-o-matic and export this to Prores. This wouldn't have worked for me in this case, as it will introduce a color shift. I've always assumed ...

Re: Marker support missing.. What happened.
Incidentally: which TMS's and/or playback servers support SMPTE markers already?
