Re: Any possible solution for Atmos content today?
I'm not so hopeful about Resolve getting the ability to do cinema IAB. It can already export IMF IAB files, and has been able to for a while. I wouldn't imagine there's a huge difference between IMF and cinema IAB other than some metadata. Resolve may have had to make that concession in order to lic...

Re: New version test help
Is it just for 7.1 tracks or across the board? I just checked a trailer for "65" in 5.1 and it only had a six channel audio MXF
EDIT: the 7.1 track for the Super Mario trailer was a full 16 channels.

Re: NTSC DVDs out of sync
'soft telecine'. The codec torture never stops. What else will they come up with? A video file trying to emulate a cigarette? This is how most commercial NTSC DVD's encoded from 24fps film have been done since the dawn of time. Saves them having to encode a dedicated 29.97fps version (and a 25fps v...

Re: Audio levels Peak -3.22 dB
Just to add: with sharp transient sounds (i.e. a door slam), it's not terribly uncommon for a signal to clip briefly on film soundtracks. Whatever distortion results from that is masked by the sound itself. Continuous clipping is a bad thing though.

Re: Use of LFE channel
Nothing too complex. I set the mode to "Center Dialog" and turn the LoAir option on. Seems to work pretty well on the typical stereo files I get since 95% of them are center panned dialog with some stereo music.

Re: Use of LFE channel
The Waves UM226 upmixer includes their 'LoAir' effect as an option on the derived LFE, which pushes everything in that channel an octave lower, so it isn't a straight up duplication of the bass information from the main channels. That's my usual tool for upmixing stereo sources to 5.1 for our advert...
