Re: Outline size on subtitle

Thank you Carl. I suspected as much.

But then, you will have to look again into the graphic subtitles with DOM as Carsten once suggested :-).

Because in that case the DCP creator will have the total control of how subtitles are displayed, and it wouldbe desirable and possibly preferrable.

Re: Subtitled dcp does not play subtitles in different theaters

In case of the first two theaters those are cinematheques and I can check their software/firmware levels. As for the others mentioned it's a cinema chain and I am friendly with their tech guy, so I will get the information eventually and post it here. I will ask the cinematheques to run the tests. W...

Outline size on subtitle

Seems that outline command in DOM creates a border of 1 pixel width. Can it be made bigger, like 5 pixels to make it really noticeable. When white subtitle are displayed on a very bright background or with a black and white film they seem to merge with the picture and some people are complaining. So...

Subtitled dcp does not play subtitles in different theaters

Here's the situation: I made a test of RTL subtitled trailer using different subtitle files (srt, xml) and different DCP types (interop and SMPTE). All play fine in one theater, but don't play subtitle in another. Both places have DOREMI servers with 2.6.1 version of software, but one (that not show...

Re: RTL subtitles

So far all Christy projectors are capable of rendering RTL subtitles. Both series I and Series II. The most problematic projectors seem to be first generation Kinotons, but there are very few installations of those.

Re: Multiple Subtitles in a Single DCP

Wow Carsten,

That's really a great idea. Sometimes I need to create bilingual subtitles, and I do it in much more complicated way. Of course my usual mix is Hebrew and English, but it will definitely work fine for me. Thank you.

Re: RTL subtitles

Actually the common practice is that they are not burned in, but rather a specific form of Interop DCP is employed, that uses a png file for each subtitle plus xml script that describes time code and position of each png file which is then overlayed on top of the picture by the projector. Most RTL D...

Re: RTL subtitles

Hi Carsten and thanks for your reply. I will post here a short dcp with Hebrew text on screen and 6 different VF versions that have same text as the text onscreen. The text comes in all variations like Unicode corrected or Plain Reversed. So you could actually see and compare the look of the subtitl...
