[Solved] DCP Not Showing Up On Drive

I copied my recently-created DCP over to another EXT3-formatted drive with another DCP on it. It lives in the root directory right next to the other one.

However, today, when we loaded up the drive on the projector, only the original DCP showed up.

Can you think of any reason why the new one wouldn't appear there?

Under which operating system did you perform the copy? Native Linux, an ext-driver for Mac/Windows, a virtual machine?

I suppose each DCP was contained in it's own folder?

Did you already bring the drive back to the machine you used for the copy? Was it visible there?

Copied using Linux Ubuntu. I dragged it over to the drive using admin mode.

Yes, each DCP was in its own folder.

It was visible on the drive on my Linux system before I removed it and re-installed it into the CRU enclosure. I don't currently have it with me. I get it back tomorrow.

Maybe a file permission issue? Was the other DCP copied using the same procedure?

Not sure how the other DCP was copied.

When I get the drive back today, I'm going to delete the new DCP folder and transfer it to the drive via "sudo cp," and see if that works.

Thoughts?

I deleted the 2nd DCP and copied it to the drive via the terminal using “sudo cp” command.

I recursively reset permissions for both DCPs to read, executable.

Still, only the 1st DCP shows up on a Barco projectile.

Neither DCP shows up on the Sony 4K projectors.

I suppose next steps are to wipe and reformat the drive then copy both DCPs over. But I’m starting to lose faith here.

Can you list the full name of the CPL AND the folder it is residing in - and if possible, copy/paste?

Funny, I just had downloaded a DCP which wouldn't show up on our Sony - I could open the top folder, but the content/DCP folder in it wasn't shown (neither was the DCP/CPL within). It took a while until I noticed that the top folder had a german umlaut 'ü' in it, while the DCP subfolder in it had it translated to 'ue'. The Sony SEEMED to open that ill-fated folder containing the umlaut, but wouldn't show any content in it. Taking out the umlaut from the folder on the PC solved it. The funny thing is, the Sony ingest module DID show the 'ü' Umlaut in the top foldername properly. But entering that folder and showing it's content obviously didn't work

Maybe something similar? Is that a Barco ICMP/integrated server on the Barco projector? Barcos and Sonys behave very differently when browsing ingest discs. The Sony will show folders/subfolders and separate DCPs for VFs and OVs (to be ingested separately), while the Barco ICMP browses the full disc (to a configurable depth), shows ALL DCPs in that path and deeper in a continuous list, and if you select a VF for ingest, it ingests the necessary OV files with it.

Can you try to copy a complitely different DCP onto that drive using the same methods? Is this for a local transfer? If so, why not use NTFS?

Well, this is troubling. There are no CPL files within the 2nd (DCPoMatic) DCP folder. That's a problem right?

Why would that happen? Some error in the render?

This is the name of the main DCP folder at the root level: TheCleansingHo_FTR-1_S_EN-EN-CCAP_51_4K_20190803_IOP_OV

One question I have is why can I not fit the full name of the movie into the first part of the filename? DOM restricts the number of characters.

To answer your question, I believe it's an integrated Server on the Barco, but I'm not 100%.

I am still confused as to what could be causing the first DCP (made with Clipster I think) to show up on the Barco but not the Sony.

There must be CPL files, yes. The typical DCP created with DCP-o-matic will show 2 mxf files, an Assetmap and Volindex file, a PKL and a CPL file. As your folder name indicates subtitles, and an Interop DCP, there should be another folder (long UUID name) containing the subtitle font and subtitle xml file. That is for a single reel DCP, the standard setting.

What IS contained in that folder? Can you recreate that DCP? It may be possible using just the two MXF files.

It is necessary to shorten the movietitle in ISDCF/DCNC names to a maximum of 14 chars, they are not allowed to have any length or contain special chars.

Re: the filename, the first DCP that was made through a vendor using Clipster I think, shows the full name of the movie and it has an ISDCF filename. So that's why I found it odd that it didn't work the same way with DOM.

I made (2) versions of this DCP with DOM. 4K and 2K. Something must have gotten messed up with the 4K render.

Here is the inside of the 4K folder. Note, no CPL or PKL and only 2 folders for subtitles on a 5-reel movie:

Here is the contents of the 2K DCP:
