Hello,

A newbie here...
When I try to open a DCP (from a client) on DCO-O-MATIC Player it shows me a error message saying: "Missign Asset" followed bu the name of the .mxf file.

Is this a problem with the Player or the DCP I received?

I have a Windows 10 - Intel Xeon 3.10 GHz / RAM 128 GB

Can anyone help me understanding this issue?

Thanks,

hein

Are you sure that DCP files (Audio, Video and xml files) are all in the DCP folder? It seems that something is not right with the Audio/Video files, you can check the file names in the PKL.xml file for being sure that you have all the files in the DCP folder.

There is probably something wrong with the DCP. How did you get it? Can you post a directory listing of the full DCP?

thanks for answering.
it's very nice to have some help here. actually this problem is happening in several DCP's.
They come from different directors as I'm helping in a film festival.
I attach a printscreen from the directory.
What do you think?

The audio file is missing... ;-)

For a DCP, you should have at least 6 files:
assetmap
volindex
cpl
pkl
video
audio

It seems that MXF audio file is missing in the DCP folder. Did you opened the PKL file in a browser to see the list of files? you should find the file names between <Asset> like this:

<Asset>
<Id>urn:uuid:c825b83a-821a-4316-af8a-10395c388d65</Id>
<Hash>4HaCNpyssPs6Q9ss2LF4ZRtj5r0=</Hash>
<Size>343562870</Size>
<Type>application/x-smpte-mxf;asdcpKind=Sound</Type>
<OriginalFileName>wav_c825b83a-821a-4316-af8a-10395c388d65_aud.mxf</OriginalFileName>
</Asset>
for the list you have printed screen; find in the PKL file the OriginalFileName for the missing audio file. I think requesting a fresh copy of the DCP will solve the issue(of course you should inform the Film Distributor regarding the missing file also).

Adding/downloading the audio file only should be ok.
As the video file size is 24 Gb (15 minutes duration or so), the audio file should be 1 Gb.

But if it's a feature, maybe other "reels" are missing too.

for what I understood from your answers, it should be missing a file named something like this:

7ff299c9-1309-4e2c-a363-28c27b29ee9e

it should be the audio file.

That matches the information both in error message from DCP-o-Matica Player and the PKL file.

This is actually the first time I write in a Forum. It's so nice to have your help!!

I hope I can help you back sometime.

Thank you very much

Well, it IS possible to have DCPs without an audio MXF - but then, naturally, it wouldn't be listed in PKL, ASSETMAP and CPL, and DCP-o-matic wouldn't complain. DCP-o-matic is not able to create DCPs without audio reels, but other software can.
