Hello,
sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm in big trouble.
I have a dcp not made by me which is protected by kdm or dkdm, I copied the master dcp to my hard disk .. I insert it in dcp or matic and it tells me to insert the kdm.
I tried to generate several with kdm generator, but every time I click "generate the kdm" nothing happens and therefore I can't open the dcp.
can someone help me? how can I generate a kdm to check the dcp itself and maybe make an h264?

You need a DKDM from the people that made the encrypted DCP. There's really no way around the problem otherwise. Can you ask them? They will need your decryption certificate which you can get from DCP-o-matic in Preferences/Keys.

i can try to ask them but probably they don't know nothing about DKDM.
there s the possibility to make by my own this DKDM so i can open the dcp? but also...the DKDM opens only the master or the copy of the master that is in my hard disk? can you suggest me hot to do it?
All the best

I hope that they can send me... so the only necessary thing is to send them my pem. file?

do you know if i can make this DKDM by myself?! and especially do you think my copy of master file can work correctly??

The DKDM will open the copy you have, providing it is correctly made. You could call it a KDM, if it confuses them less.

You can't make your own DKDM. The DCP is encrypted using a key that you do not know. Thus nobody can play it without the permission of the creators (in the form of a DKDM). I'm afraid this is the whole point of encryption. If you could work around it, it would be pointless.

If they are used to dealing with cinemas they will probably ask for the serial number of your screen server. Then they can look up the PEM file in a database. Lots of cinemas will not have the PEM file.

You will have to give them the PEM file - and make sure they understand what to do with it. If you want to email the form to carl@dcpomatic.com I can see if I have any suggestions.
