Hi there,
do have a srt-file; after adding to dcpomatic subs appear at screen let's say 50-80 ms delayed.
My approach would be to set starting time of added mkv some frames later. 3 or 4.
Am I doing something wrong?

subtitles slightly (!) after spoken word
Re: subtitles slightly (!) after spoken word
How are you checking the sync?
Re: subtitles slightly (!) after spoken word
a) with embedded player.
b) on Sony 510.
both show a very slightly delayed sub.

Re: subtitles slightly (!) after spoken word
OK, how did you check that the .srt file timings are right with respect to the MKV file?
Re: subtitles slightly (!) after spoken word
with VLC-Player. Source-mkv is 29,97 fps.
Re: subtitles slightly (!) after spoken word
Does the sync stay constantly the same amount out, or get worse?
Re: subtitles slightly (!) after spoken word
Near the end, difference between subs and spoken word is slightly larger. 110 min. movie from a japanese dvd.
Re: subtitles slightly (!) after spoken word
... could it be the 29,97/30 difference?
Re: subtitles slightly (!) after spoken word
Could be, but DCP-o-matic is supposed to cope with that. I'll do some tests here.
