supplemental DCP

Post by lemgeo »

Hi all,

if the source DCP is encrypted, the supplemental DCP has to be encrypted too?
In that case i have to deliver two kdms.

thanks

I can't think of a reason why you couldn't have an unencrypted supplement to an encrypted DCP. You would need new KDMs for the original encrypted part though, since the CPL ID would change.

Hi,

the second part of your answer got me confused (about the id).

I have an encrypted "master" dcp and a created supplemental unencrypted dcp.
to the cinema I deliver both packages.
To the cinema I deliver one kdm, by loading the master dcp (adding the kdm i'm provided for DCP-o-matic)
and then make kdm by choosing the cpl of the "master" dcp.
Is that right?

Thanks

If you use a supplemental DCP the original DCP's CPL is no longer used: you use the CPL from the supplemental DCP which refers to "assets" (video/audio/subtitles) from the original DCP.

KDMs refer to CPLs, so you would then need a KDM for the supplemental CPL which contained keys for all the assets that you want to use.

Does that make sense?
