Apple Mac Studio performance

Post by Boris_iak »

Hi, I'd need help to resolve DCP performance. I'm using latest version of DCP-o-matic running on Mac Studio Ultra trying to make 4K DCI Flat, 25fps, 200 Mbit/s and it's giving me 7fps of render. This seems very slow. Do you guys have any idea how to make it run faster?

Thanks a lot for any help

Boris

Can you check to see if the CPU is being fully used?

Maybe 7fps is normal for 4K-flat on the Mac Studio. Try to perform the 'official' DCP-o-matic Benchmark (2k) on the same machine:

Be sure to set the number of threads to 20. Also, reading from and writing to the internal SSD will be faster than on an external HD or SSD. In my experience, making 4K DCPs is slow, even with the help of encode servers.
