Shopping suggestion

Post by cintoli »

Without mentioning any brand, what would be the best computer choice in terms of CPU to improve the rendering speed in DCP-o-Matic?

My computer has a 3.2 GHz 4-core CPU and currently takes about 16 hours to render a 100-minute film (using a 110 to 130 GB Prores file with a 5.1 sound mix as a print master). I would like to reduce the time lapse.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Ryzen 9 7950X, or, if it needs to be Intel, a Core i9-13900K.

The system does not need to be exceptionally fancy - especially, you don't need a fast GPU.

Key features are a Ryzen 9, 16GB of RAM, and an NVMe/PCIe SSD, large enough to hold your master files and a few DCPs - that is, 1TB or 2TB. A fast CPU also needs a fast storage system to keep up with the IO tasks.
