Settings are not saved

Post by Cooller89 »

Hi, I updated DOM from 2.16.60 to 2.16.66 and my language switched to Russian and does not switch to any more. In general, no settings are saved for some reason, after restarting the DOM everything returns as it was. How to fix it?

I also see this every time I launch DOM. I deleted version 66 and installed back version 60, but the problem remained.

I'm crying because every time I start the program I have to configure everything again and this Russian language also interferes

Deleting/uninstalling the software will usually not correct prefs issues - prefs files stay where they are. You may need to delete the config.xml.

Better, never delete, but right-click-ZIP/compress, THEN delete, so you have a copy.

does not work, still not saved on version 66

in version 60, your method works, but in version 66 it does not work. I completely delete the folder from AppData\Local\ - dcpomatic, but there is no saving in version 66.

Maybe it's a file access right's issue. Is this WIN11?

If you delete the prefs folder - is one recreated when you start DCP-o-matic afterwards?

Do you have different users available on that machine? You could try to start DCP-o-matic using a different user and see if that makes a difference.

There does seem to be something strange going on with permissions on newer Windows versions. If you have time to share your screen over a Zoom call at some time I'd be interested to investigate that way.

No, it is Win Server 2019

I delete the entire dcpomatic folder for all users from the AppData\Local folder, the problem persists for all users, and when running dcpomatic, a folder is created everywhere in appdata, there are no access problems. In version 60, everything is fine, after deleting the dcpomatic folder from AppData\Local, it is created anew and saves everything, but in version 66, a folder is created, files are created inside, but nothing is saved inside the program, nothing helps. I had to downgrade back to version 60

Great, perhaps you could let me know what timezone you are in at carl@dcpomatic.com and we can arrange a time.
