Mpeg2 DCP ?

Post by kmeh7 »

Hi All,

In current scenario , what options do i have to make Mpeg2 DCP? I know its outdated but in Asia it is still used in some older projectors.

Can i make it through DOM ? older versions ? Or any other software ?

Thanks in advance

Not with DoM. I think OpenDCP will do it.

I don't know, you should probably ask on a Open DCP forum.

It's still on the Open DCP feature list. I guess it won't encode MPEG2, though, so you would have to create the video stream in MPEG2 with a separate program, then wrap with OpenDCP. If the current version actually doesn't support MPEG2-Interop wrapping, I am sure Terrence could dig out an older version which will do it.

But it's not the same streamlined workflow as in DCP-o-matic.

We had a discussion on MPEG2 already here, you may be interested to read it:

There is also 'sort of' a solution in the last post. Though you should probably try to evaluate the OpenDCP route as well.
