Padding

Post by federicop1919 »

Hi I have this legal requirements to make a dcp from a 2k video:

the resolution of the "DCDM Container" must be 2048x1080, but each archive
in the DCDM has to contain only the active pixels of the image, according these formats:

2.39:1 (Scope): 2048x858
1.85:1 (Flat): 1998x1080
1.77:1 (16/9): 1920x1080

If i give different size to the container from the video dcp-o-matic will add a pad: is possible to avoit it, or how should i produce a DCP with the requirements? Is DCP-o-matic not usefull in this case?

thanks
Federico

Hi Federico

If you set the container to "full frame" and the content's "scale to" to flat there will be a 1998x1080 image inside a 2048x1080 black frame, so there will be padding. You could set the content "scale to" to "full frame" also, which will remove the padding but stretch your image.

Frederico - can you tell us what the purpose of these DCPs will be?

What is the exact (active) pixel resolution of your 2k source video?

The original video is 2048x1080, is a feature documentary for theatres. The requirements are from National Institute of Cinema in Argentina. The suggestion from Carl means a squeezed format, I'm not sure would be ok. Thanks
