Post by jakesinn »

Hello all,

Does anybody know which processor to choose in DOM for a USL Model JSD-60 Cinema Processor?

TIA

That choice has nothing to do with a specific cinema processor. All available cinema processors play any of these choices equally well (or bad ;-)

You should only try them if you want to spread stereo audio to multichannel speakers. The result varies.

For the gain calculator, the JSD60 is a bit special - early software revisions use the USL scheme, later revisions the Dolby scheme. I'd go with the Dolby preset. The difference is noticeable, but not huge.

Note, for the current gain calculator scheme to work, you should not have a manual gain set already in your DCP. The gain calculator always calculates from 0dB gain. If you have set a manual gain for your DCP of e.g. +5dB, tested this in the cinema, noticed that it played there 'ok' at 4.5, but want it a 5.5 - you can not do this with the gain calculator immediately. After performing gain calculation, you need to add (or substract if negative) your previous manual offset again, e.g. if the gain calculator set you to -2.5dB, you need to bring it to +2.5dB again manually afterwards if you previously had a manual gain of +5dB. Carl is working on a fix.

2.14.x uses the Dolby curve when you apply the gain calculator.
