Subtitles - SHADOW

Post by LLdcp »

Dear DCP-o-matic Team,
first of all thank you for this great software!
My question is: will the shadow effect option for open subtitles look like in the preview in DOP? If yes... it does look weird in my computer. The shadow is too far away from the actual text. Because I definitely prefer shadow to outline... I wanted to be sure before I go for the latter.
Thank you!

If you burn in the subs with shadow, they will look exactly as in preview. If you use them as timed text/open subtitles, then the projector will display them in real time and the shadow distance will probably look different.

Also, keep in mind that outline width can only be set if you burn-in the subtitles, as DCI timed text subtitling doesn't support variable outline width (nor does it support shadow spacing or angle). The only available options for these effects are color.

Can you show us a screenshot of your problem?

Thank you for your reply! I actually tested the shadows (open subtitles) and they look fine on the projector. Just totally different than the ones in preview (attached) The projector uses its own setting and parameter as you said.
Thank you!
