3D DCP bitrate
3D DCP bitrate
For a 3D DCP with a left eye and right eye image sequence - can each file be 250mbps or does each need to be cut in half to equal 250mbps together?
Re: 3D DCP bitrate
The max DCI bitrate is the same for all 'basic' formats - 24fps 2k, 24fps 4k, and 2k-3D(48fps) - max 250 MBit/s TOTAL.
Only HFR enabled systems will be able to play back higher bitrates and framerates.
So, in 3D/48fps, it is '125MBit/s per eye'.
I would try to avoid the maximum, as some servers tend to crash with highly detailed content peaking towards 250MBit/s.

Re: 3D DCP bitrate
Got it, thanks! Very good to know. I usually create DCPs at 230 Mbps. For 3D DCPs I will create them for a max of 230 Mbps, 115 Mbps for each eye.
