Hi all,
I am just new with DCP-o-matic and I apologize for the question too naif for regular users.
I haven't find the answer in previous thread.
I would like to make a reel with still 3d images. With subtitles and music.
Question is this:
Do I have to be particularly accurate in placing the two images left and right, together?
Do you have any other advise?
Many thanks!
Here two examples of the photos that I would like to put in the reel:

Another question: if I want to add some transition between the slides, do I have to do it with another program and then import them in DCP-o-matic as a video?
again, many thanks!!!!!

Re: 3D still images in reel
3D stills in DCP-o-matic is easy to do, you just need to set your DCP properties to 3D under the DCP tab, and then assign the two images to either left or right in content/video properties. After that, you can switch between left/right eye under the preview window, and if you do it fast enough, you should already get a glimpse of the 3D effect.
The only transition currently availabe in DCP-o-matic is fade to/from black. Some may say this is the only useful transition for unrelated 3D images, as cross-dissolving unrelated 3D images may cause weird effects. Not necessarily unpleasant for every type of image, but hard to plan without proper preview.

Many thanks Carsten!
I will try.
Actually I agree: fade to/from black is the one I need.
Thanks!

Not in a useful way currently, as far as 3D is concerned. If you have a windows machine, you may try Stereoscopic Player, it offers a range of 3D display options.

Re: 3D still images in reel
Thank you for the super fast reply!
and sorry my main work in on a Mac.
I have also tried VLC media player, but I see it can only make anaglyph results out of 2D video with images side by side. Correct?
And also I understand VLC does not read the DCP as a whole?
In case I don't find other solutions, I think I will try Stereoscopic Player on Windows.
Many thanks!

Re: 3D still images in reel
Stereoscopic player just as VLC will also not play the DCP by it's CPL - just the MXF from beginning to end. However, if you create single-reel DCPs with DCP-o-matic (which is the default setting), the playback result with Stereoscopic Player will be exactly the same. Stereoscopic player also will play the audio MXF with the video MXF.
