DoM crashing when trying to create DCP from unencrypted VF+OV

Hi all,

I am running into an issue I am sure I didn't experience a couple of month ago.

Let say I have this unencrypted DCP OV + VF as source (previously created with DCP o matic):
UnencMovie_FTR-1_F_FR-XX_FR-G_51_4K_CF_20210227_DCP_IOP_OV
UnencMovie_FTR-1_F_FR-EN_FR-G_51_4K_CF_20210301_DCP_IOP_VF

Both of the unencrypted OV/VF version work, they have been properly ingested on servers, DoM player can play them properly too either just the OV or the VF once the OV is included.

What I want to achieve is to create an encrypted version of this movie for distribution so I can basically end up with
EncMovie_FTR-1_F_FR-XX_FR-G_51_4K_CF_20210227_DCP_IOP_OV
EncMovie_FTR-1_F_FR-EN_FR-G_51_4K_CF_20210301_DCP_IOP_VF

Making the encrypted version from OV only works without a problem. (tested, ingested etc.)
But the crash occurs each time I add the unencrypted VF as source and try to associate the OV to it (right click "Add OV...") in the project. Which is strange since it's properly played back on DoM Player.

Is there a something to fix or the way I proceed isn't the right one?

I am using DoM 2.14.54 (lastest version at the time of writing)
Tried on Debian 10 (Buster) and CentOS 7, same crash happens.

Do you get any message when it crashes?

No message at all, the software just closes. Right after the OV starts to be analyzed.

It seems that the issue is similar with encrypted DCP as sources.

They are well played back with the player when adding the KDM to it.
But the in a DoM project, the right-click "Add KDM..." feature crashes the same way as with "Add OV...". There seems to be a pattern that may help here.

That means, using the VF/assigning it's OV in player works, but not in DCP-o-matic main? That should be easy to replicate, let's see...
The VF only adds timed text subtitles, is that right?

Yes that's it, the VF only adds subtitles.

I can reproduce this in 2.14.x - it doesn't seem to be a problem in 2.15.x.

Hi!
I had the same problem on Debian 10 too. The solution was quite simple - I just reinstalled DOM. :D
I always do an update of DOM and I think this crash is somehow related to it because when I deleted DOM and did a clean install - the problem was gone. Maybe this was because there were some consecutive updates that went through 2.14.x versions.

I tried after making a fresh new install of DOM and the issue is still reproduced on my end.

EDIT : also confirming it seems to work on 2.15.x., but I don't feel comfortable using a dev version on our main production server. Is there hope for it to be fixed on the next stable release?

I was wondering, if you try to verify the content of a VF with the player, does it work (either encrypted or not, less important)?
I was never been able to verify Version Files, only play them. I was always assuming that it would look for the assets in the wrong place or something similar, but it might be something else...
