I'm not sure I'm seeing the problem here. I'm looking at the subtitle "Europe. Civilization." which is in the .srt file at 01:49:26,290. Sadly I can't get VLC to single-step frames while showing the subtitles properly, but with mplayer I see a cut from the lady with the red and white striped shirt to the man with a black jumper. On the fourth frame of the cut to the man I am seeing "Europe. Civilization." which is the same as in the DoM preview.

Can you open your DoM project, go to the "Timed Text" tab for the .srt file, click "View..." and select the "Europe. Civilization." subtitle and see what time code is shown underneath the DoM preview?

Perhaps the subs+video are in sync with each other and the sound is out? Is that possible? (I'm checking sync against the video here, I guess).

OK, that's what I see as well (in DoM) and it looks the same in VLC - the subtitle disappears just as the picture cuts back to the lady. What do you see in VLC?
