[resolved] DCPomatic not convert image to XYZ

Post by kaiz3r »

Hello
after heard and reading a lot of reading about dcpomatic, i try to adopt it
When i import files, subtitles, audios etc, all seems to work well, the software identify correctly the video colorspace (witch is rec709 in this case)

my problem is, when I built the DCP, no conversion to XYZ are done, the mxf is the exact same colorspace that original video
i have read the doc, nothing about it, same in every tutorial i have found on internet

Any idea why it not convert to XYZ space please ?
i use dcp o matic 2.6.3 on windows 10 64bit

thank you

What are you using to look at the MXF?

You have to play an XYZ MXF file with a proper player.

DCP-o-matic does create XYZ - you can be sure about that.

Try Doremi Cineplayer Eval.

Now if you use MediaPlayerClassic and Scratch Player again to look a newly generated DCPs/MXFs - what do they say now?

Cause I have a hard time to understand where these players get the information about rec709 in an MXF wrapped J2c file.

Do you still have one of the old 'broken' MXF files for analysis?

hi
sorry i just see your post
MPC HC and scrach play it (the mxf) correctly, both apply XYZ to rec709 correction. i see exactly the same thing with them than doremi player
not sure how they know about the color space, maybe with the container... i don't know

Sorry i have deleted it, since re-install, i never have this problem again

Hi kaiz3r! I'm currently using the last version of MPC-HC (without installing anything else, madvr, other lav filters, nothing, just the player, I only turned on color management and never touched other settings) to test my latest DCP (actually, only the mxf video file in it). From what I understood it's a reliable way to judge the conversion from the rec.709 source master file (a prores 4444 in my case, always viewed in MPC-HC), it should matches what theoretically I would see with a cinema projector?
