The option to activate watermarking for video/audio within the KDM is there now, however, I guess there need to be more options.
The original intention to have that functionality (and that was not to 'activate', but to 'deactivate' watermarking selectively) was

• to have a way to create encrypted content with no watermarking at all for special screening purposes (some high end festivals demand it)

• to specifically exclude watermarking from specific audio channels, because these channels would not convey audio, but data streams (dbox motion code, ATMOS/SMPTE time code, Brazilian sign language video etc.). These data streams would suffer from water marking, as the watermarking would damage the data integrity. By default, servers apply watermarking to all audio channels.

So - for the latter, it is necessary to have an option to exclude specific audio tracks from the watermarking. That is, we would need a dialog similar to the audio matrix which allows to disable certain DCP audio channels from watermarking.

By practical means, I think, when opening that KDM option dialog, watermarking should always be enabled by default for

• video
• all audio tracks 1-12

and be disabled for tracks 13-16
Then users can adjust their own settings based on these defaults. Plus, there could remain the 'master' checkbox to activate the default setting, or deactivate for audio completely.
