Summary	0001446: Reformatting of subs incorrect?
Description	Hello , i am currently using the beta program version 12.13.102 on Windows 10 x64. I have a compliant subtitle file that is recognized as malformed and formatted incorrectly when creating the DCP. The original subtitle file contains font formats such as italics and different colors. After examining this file, you will see the message: "Some of your closed captions have more than 30 characters, so they are probably word-wrapped. Some of your closed captions span 3 lines, so they will be truncated." The original file is ok. The subheading spotnumber 23 / line 2 has 30 characters. If I reduce this to 29 everything is fine without an error message. What does not work: detection of 30 characters Reformatting the XML formatting Suggestion: Could you disable the reformatting at your own risk in the settings. The subtitle check before creating the DCP is very good and important. Best regards I really like DCP-o-matic!
Steps To Reproduce	create a new project -> import subtitles -> mark subtitles as Closed Caption -> Create DCP
Additional Information	"Testmovie_CCAP_standart_input.xml" is the original subtitle file "Testmovie_CCAP_standart_dcpomatic_output.xml" is the automatically generated subtitle file of DCP-o-matic after pressing the error message "Testmovie_CCAP_cleaned_input.xml" manually preformatted without italics and several colors and spotnumber 23 / line 2 cut to 29 characters. "Testmovie_CCAP_cleaned_dcpomatic_output.xml" is the automatically generated subtitle file of DCP-o-matic without any error message

visualize 2019-01-24 01:46 reporter ~0002922	Yes, there is a problem with the way of formatting. The XML no longer complies with the usual cinecanvas formatting. I have not tested this for SMPTE titles yet. A reimport of the CCAP file from the created DCP to further process them fails because the formatting is different. I use the Betaversion 2.13.105 for testing. The lines per spot number are exchanged. But that's not a problem. All extras like color, italics ..... will be different. For comparison: 190124_Testmovie_CCAP_IOP_INPUT.xml and sub_3721fa00-1e51-4380-bd26-ba4e095c6bf6_Output.xml I attached the project. When I clean the input XML file and remove all extras such as colors and italics, everything works fine. Only the lines of a spot number are reversed (no problem, the altitude information is correct) 190124_Testmovie_CCAP_IOP_INPUT.xml (2,208 bytes) sub_3721fa00-1e51-4380-bd26-ba4e095c6bf6_Output.xml (2,155 bytes) 180124_TESTMOVIE.zip (545,555 bytes)

If a 'standard' Cinecanvas/XML file originally meant for subtitling/open captions is used for CCAP, some reformatting is necessary to comply with CCAP constraints. The result will only be used for CCAP generation, so, what is the problem? The original source can still be used for subtitles/open captions? Am I missing something? Carsten

visualize 2019-01-24 09:53 reporter ~0002926	Thanks for asking and efforts! ;-) My request relates to the further processing. If someone gets the DCP and wants to edit the CCAP. I was not sure if the SubtitleEdit program interpreted correctly the output cap XML file. So... it will be a problem of the subtitle program. subtite_edit.jpg (315,475 bytes)
