Summary0001579: ASSETMAP.xml does not exist
Description

I made a DCP, and the Asset Map filename was ASSETMAP. I think it should be ASSETMAP.xml. The same with VOLINDEX, shouldn't it be VOLINDEX.xml?
In SMPTE ST 429-9:2014, page 15:

  • a single Asset Map document in root directory of the filesystem; or
  • one or more Asset Map documents, each within a directory whose immediate parent is the root directory, i.e. a top-level directory. The length of the name of the directory containing the Asset Map document shall be no more than 100 characters.
For example, Asset Map documents will not be present both (i) in the root directory of the filesystem and (ii) within directories whose immediate parent directory is the root directory.
Each Asset Map document shall be a file named “ASSETMAP.xml”.
Note: Similarly named files, e.g. "ASSETMAP" can be present, but are not considered in the context of this specification, i.e. they are ignored.
Steps To Reproduce

Make a DCP in simple mode, the Asset Map is called ASSETMAP, not ASSETMAP.xml.

This is because in simple mode the DCP format defaults to Interop, not SMPTE. It's quite possible that we should change this...

I think this is still presettable to SMPTE or INTEROP in prefs even in simple mode. We had been discussing the option to set SMPTE as default at some point in time. I was hesitating to endorse this for a long time, but as we are now approaching 2.16, and SMPTE is now actually becoming the norm internationally, I would give up my resistance. Of course, also because the encrypted SMPTE issue on Sonys is now fixed.
