What software should I use to rip DVDs and Blu-Rays?

On Windows, I've used MakeMKV (which is free as in beer at the moment) and AnyDVD (which is not free).

MakeMKV also runs on Linux and OS X.

To convert 3D Blu Ray rips to something that DCP-o-matic can handle, the following are suggested:

• DVDFab
• MVC to AVI converter
• FRIM decoder
