Post by lianamustaip »

Hi,

I'm in frustration, the cinema cant open the DCP. I have check the DCP, KDM and CPL which are fine.

We already failed doing movie screeing and send a hundred people last month, now it seems they still cant open the film.

could you please give me advice what I need to check to help them?

Really appreciate your help

Do you have any information about what exact errors/problems the cinema gets when they try to play the DCP?

Did you make the KDM? If so, how did you get the details of the cinema's projector/server?

Did you get an error report from the cinema? Usually it is easy to tell wether the DCP had trouble ingesting, or if the KDM is not opening the encrypted DCP. Encryption is not easy to tackle for the beginner.

I suggest you create a short piece of your feature (use Trimming under the Timing Tab), first unencrypted. Test it at the cinema, then try again encrypted. If that doesn't work, you have to find out why decryption doesn't work, which is usually a problem with the cert supplied by the cinema.

Were you ever sucessful in creating and playing an encrypted DCP at this or another cinema?

It is always possible to test DCPs ahead of time to avoid sending people home.

Thank you, everyone,

I didn't know exactly what the issue was, I checked all KDMs, all the UUID, the assetmap, CPL, and Cinema certificates, and they were all fine. But as Carsten mentioned, it's not easy to tackle by the beginner, so the cinema found someone who is expert with the KDM coding. And they solved it.
