Verification error in DOM Player

Post by Miriana »

I made DCP and used DOM Disk Writer to copy DCP folder onto USB thumb drive on Windows 10.
When I played the copy from the EX2 formatted USB drive I got error.
I had checked with DCP Player before I copied using Disk Writer and no errors were reported
What is the problem and how to solve
Thank you

What software are you using to view the EXT2 drive on your Mac?

Thanks Carl
I am using Paragon extFS on my Mac computer.
I decided to redo the Disk Writer using the same DCP files and his second time it passed verification when I checked on my Mac with DOM player.
Can I trust that the DCP on the thumb drive will be good?
I know that many people say NTFS is widely supported but I thought Ext2 was compatible will all cinemas.

NTFS is supported at all cinemas, just as ext2/3. Our experience with Paragon is very mixed. Also, thumb drives are VERY slow and can also be unreliable. You may have tripped about one of these issues of multiple issues.

So I tried again on different USB thumb drive using Disk Writer on Windows 10.
Same thing happened. Once Disk Writer completed and I checked verification on DOM Player on Mac verification fails with same message as before.
Redid the copy process on Windows and 2nd time verification on Mac didn't report any problems.
I don't have software on windows to check EXT2 drives.
Feeling anxious. Should I just go with NTFS
Thank you for your help

Sorry I didn't see your answer before I posted.
Best to go with NTFS?

Yes.

We have seen it very often that Paragon produces read errors, even if the files have been written okay. I would only rely on high quality thumb drives for trailers or shorts, but not full length (>100GB) features.

If you have access to a windows machine, then go NTFS. There is also a solid NTFS driver for Macs, Tuxera NTFS.

Thank you for clarifying.
Will go with NTFS on Windows machine. Much less anxiety.

You will also notice a better playback performance with NTFS in the player compared to Paragon ext2/3 drivers.
