GDC server certificates from years ago can be used. But why isn't it Gen KDM now?

All server certs expire at some point in time. For most servers, not before 2025 until the 2040s. But some already have expired, and it makes no sense to create KDMs towards expired certs.

There seems to be evidence that some servers will carry on accepting KDMs even when their certificate has expired. As it happens there was a request to show the expired screens instead of refusing to make the KDMs (this will be in 2.16.67).

There is some excitement currently that some distributors now deny KDMs towards these GDC systems. Not all do this, though.

It's probably okay to still issue certs, but they should get a warning.

Interesting. In 2.16.67 there is a list of screens that have "incorrect" certificates (which I think is a very reasonable request) and alongside that change you can also say "just make the KDMs anyway".

GDC SA-2100 is the one server now disqualified by Paramount.
