Hello.
I'd like to report a problem that occurs when the HTTP control interface is enabled in the DCP-o-matic player software.
If the HTTP control feature is enabled, the player becomes unstable and freezes/closes randomly (or freeze the whole operating system) without any error message.
The current operating system that I'm using is Debian 12.10, but the same thing is happening on Ubuntu 24.04 (and also on Ubuntu 22.04)
I've tried changing the port of the HTTP interface, but the problem still occurs.
I'd like to know whether this problem is on my end, or it's a problem with the DCP-o-matic player HTTP control feature.
Thank you!

Hi, I haven't seen anything like that here, but maybe it's a packaging problem...
Are you installing with the .deb files on dcpomatic.com?
Are there any error messages at any point?

Hi, Carl. Thank you for your response.
Yes. I'm using the latest from the website.
This problem also occurred on the previous versions too.
I've also tried different computers (with Ubuntu/Debian) and the problem still occurred.
There aren't any error messages, the player just randomly freezes and/or crashes (sometimes after 1 minute, sometimes after 3 min). Sometimes it freezes the entire system too.
This crashing problem only occurs if the HTTP remote feature is enabled. If I disable it, the problem goes away.

Are you using the HTTP control, or just enabling it?

Hi, thank you for your response, again.
It crashes whether I actively use it or not if the option is switched on in the settings.
If I switch it on and leave the player idling, it will just crash to the desktop or just freeze after 2-4 minutes.

It will happen in windows also, if you leave the player and the remote page idle the PC will crash!!
