Hi everybody,
I am a long time DOP user and usually I only make 2K DCPs.
This time I made a 4K 3998x2160 25P SMPTE DCP all went well in DOP but when verifying in DOP player I get this SMPTE Bv2.1 error:
The frame rate 25/1 of picture asset j2c_1f66c6e2-9c9d-4e3a-98eb-ef3425f910e7.mxf is not allowed for 4K DCP
This DCP plays fine direkt from a Cru Databport but cannot be uploaded to a Dolby server. I tried uploading with a NTFS formatted drive and even directly from the Cru dataport.
Please help!
Thanks, Mats

Re: SMPTE Bv2.1 error
Hi,
The Bv2.1 error is pointing out that 4K/25fps is not allowed by the SMPTE Bv2.1 "profile" - you either need to go back to 2K or down to 24fps. This may not be the cause of your problem, however (perhaps the Dolby server will play 4K/25fps - I don't know...)
When you say the DCP plays fine from the Dataport, are you playing on a projector, or with the DoM player, or something else?
What happens when you try to upload to the Dolby server? Do you get an error?

Re: SMPTE Bv2.1 error
Thanks Carl for the swift answer.
When I play the the DCP from a Cru Dataport ext 2 on a Dolby Cinema server/projector is works fine.
If I try to copy it (ingest) it to the server I get error saying that the xxxxx.mxf i corrupt. When I try to upload from a NTSC USB drive it will not copy. If I on the other hand upload through the theatres web portal it worked.
It seems to me that SMTPE 4k 25 fps is not legit.

Note, this is 'just' a formal requirement - there may be servers in the field who are able to play non-RDD52 compliant DCPs, and 4k/25p is not the most exotic choice.
What exact type of Dolby Player is this?
It is certainly so that players perform different types of verification between DirectPlay and upon Ingest. Ingest will usually allow the server to check the full DCP before playing. But the error 'corrupt' may still hint to a disk or transfer problem.
