Hi everybody,
I was wondering what to do, if I actually have a film (in a Prores 4444 container) that is already mastered with a XYZ DCP specific colorspace. Becuase in this case I don't want any converting being done on the colors.
Can I bypass the option somehow ? Or what should I do ?
Ideas are very much apprechiated !
Regards, Thomas

Hi Thomas,
At the moment there is no way to do that. I will work on it.

I guess one could set up a custom 'zero' color conversion matrix. But how would that look like for 'no conversion'? Gamma would probably still need to be adjusted, I guess. In general, I don't think it is a good idea to use common video/computer codecs with xyz color space. Because that file usually can not be played back/checked with correct color rendering. Common codecs should use their common colorspace, I guess.

So what would the color space be of a ProRes 4444 mov rendered from FinalCutPro7? Is it the codec or FInalCut that decides the color space?
I have always found this very confusing. And I do notice that when I make a DCP from a ProRes and use sRGB the blacks are just a bit gray.

From what I can find (in the vast oceans of the interwebbs) ProRes only works in Rec. 709. Can someone confirm this?
