Audio + Video - what happens if they're different durations?

Post by ericriggs »

Hello,

I received final picture from a post house and then separate surround stems from the audio house. Everything matches up and stay in sync, but it looks like the audio house added a couple of frames of silence at the end of the stems, resulting in the audio being about 11 frames longer than the video. What happens when I load media with 2 different durations into dcp-o-matic? Do they have to match duration exactly? Again, everything is synched up from the beginning, there's just 10 extra frames of silence on the audio.

DCP-o-matic will fill either track with black or silence to match length. That's a feature I use regularly when creating compositions of stills and audio - I let DCP-o-matic do the matching.
