Replacing Audio Track on 23.976FPS DCP File

Post by stickbob123 »

I'm currently encoding a 5.1 DCP that is made from a DNxHR file running at 23.976 that O-Matic is converting to run at 24FPS along with its attached audio. My mixer is getting me a new mix by the end of the week though, and I'm replacing the current stereo track with a proper 5.1 mix. My question is: do I have to do anything to indicate to DCP-O-Matic that this new file should ALSO be played at 100.1% when I swap out the audio tracks/re-encode? Or will DCP-O-Matic automatically assume that and retime it for me?

It should automatically resample it - the good thing is, if it does, it says so at the bottom of the audio tab, and if for some reason it doesn't, you can set it to a 23.976fps sampling reference manually (right click on the audio file).

For anyone looking this up down the line -- in my experience, DCP O Matic will NOT automatically resample audio media, so you'll have to right-click on the source and choose "Advanced Settings" and then fill out the "Video Frame rate that content was prepared for" field manually. In my case and probably most cases, that number will be 23.976.

It should resample automatically when it has enough information - was your audio alongside a 23.976fps video file?
